Guadalupe Island Great White Sharks - Oct. 11-16, 2013

Google Map of Guadalupe Island
DYP Trip Host Kevin Sage took 6 people on the trip of a lifetime to Guadalupe Island, Mexico to cage dive with Great White Sharks. The journey began in San Diego where the group from Seattle met up with the Nashville group. Together, they boarded a bus and traveled to Ensenada, where the boat, the Nautilus Explorer, was awaiting their arrival. DYP's Seven joined about 15 other people from all over the world to begin the 20 hour boat ride to Guadalupe Island.

For some in the group, this was their very first dive trip. Others had hundreds of dives under their belt. But for everyone, this was their first time in the water with Great White Sharks. Some were scared. All were excited though.

The Nautilus Explorer is an extremely professional operation. If you've seen footage on television of GWS, it was probably shot at Guadalupe Island, and most likely, it was shot aboard the Nautilus Explorer. The safety precautions and equipment made everyone in our group feel completely comfortable, and the crews' attention to detail made this a truly luxury experience.

Meet The Group

Picture
QUINN BARTLETT - Another Seattle-ite, Quinn was on the team that invented the artificial cow gizzard. Later realizing cows had little need for a gizzard, the invention proved to be less ground-breaking than expected, but DYP loved his quick wit anyway.

Picture
ELISE PERKINS - Xbox Enthusiast and closet D&D champ, Elise was the founding member of a confectionary sorority called BAKE MIA PIE. Breaking with tradition, she also hates sunrises and likes short walks on the beach.

Picture
KEVIN SAGE (Trip Host) - Kevin is a dive professional and philanthropist in Franklin, TN. Someday he dreams of diving with GWS "outside" of the cage, but he doubts his wife will let him...

Picture
ADAM HALEY - Adam is an IT Genius in Franklin, TN. He can bench press a horse, and sings like Michael Buble'. His off-beat humor was a constant joy on the trip. DYP highly recommends traveling with him.

Picture
JON BEADE II - To call him an improvement on the first Jon Beade would be an insult to his father, but Jon is certainly a great guy. Vertically gifted, he often had a difficult time maneuvering through low doorways and ceilings, but we'd take him anywhere...with a helmet.

Picture
WHITNEY NIESZ - Whitney hails from Seattle. A veteran of PR, her professional ballerina career was cut short by her never taking a ballet class...ever. Always up for an adventure, DYP was thrilled to have her on the trip.

Picture
TOM DANIELS - Nicknamed "Rumplestilskin" for his ability to sleep through every one of his morning dives, Tom embodies a "work hard/play hard" philosophy. World traveler and Microsoft IT Hero, Tom was a blast to have on board.
